Aumaris: Weaving the Spirit of the Sea into Exquisite Fine Jewelry

The ocean has captivated humanity for millennia, inspiring tales of adventure, resilience, and timeless beauty. For those who feel an unbreakable connection to the sea, this profound bond often extends to the objects they cherish. Aumaris understands this connection deeply, crafting fine nautical jewelry that doesn't just borrow maritime motifs but embodies the very spirit of the sea itself.

At Aumaris, jewelry is more than an adornment; it's a testament to heritage, meticulous craftsmanship, and enduring symbolism. Each piece is a wearable story, designed to resonate with those who carry the ocean in their heart, whether they're seasoned sailors, coastal dwellers, or simply admirers of the sea's profound elegance.

The Turk's Head Knot: A Symbol of Timeless Connection

One of Aumaris's most iconic designs is undoubtedly the Turk's Head knot. This ancient, interwoven pattern, with no visible beginning or end, has graced Roman mosaics, adorned the rigging of ships, and served as a practical and decorative knot for sailors for centuries. Its journey from a functional piece of ropework to a cherished piece of jewelry is a testament to its universal appeal.

Aumaris elevates the Turk's Head knot to an art form. Unlike mass-produced items, their Turk's Head rings, bracelets, and earrings are meticulously hand-woven from a single strand of precious metal – be it radiant gold, sleek platinum, or lustrous silver. This painstaking process honors the knot's traditional origins, ensuring each piece is unique and imbued with the dedication of a master artisan. When you wear an Aumaris Turk's Head piece, you're not just wearing jewelry; you're wearing a symbol of eternal connection, resilience, and a rich maritime legacy.

Anchor Chains: Holding Fast to Strength and Stability

Beyond the intricate knots, Aumaris also celebrates the robust elegance of the anchor chain. The interlocking, sturdy links, forged initially in iron to tether mighty ships, have become a powerful emblem of strength, stability, and unwavering resolve. The distinctive "Mariner" or "Anchor" link, with its central stud, speaks volumes about holding firm against life's currents.

Aumaris transforms this utilitarian symbol into luxurious fine jewelry. Their anchor chain bracelets and necklaces, often made with substantial, solid gold links, are handcrafted to convey the same sense of enduring power as their maritime counterparts. These aren't delicate adornments; they are bold statements, meticulously polished and finished, designed to be worn with confidence and pride. An Aumaris anchor chain piece is a tangible reminder of one's inner fortitude and a timeless connection to the steadfastness of the sea.

Hector Sanchez
Aumaris original Nautical Jewelry is handcrafted with a natural approach to jewelry design, to ensure each piece is environmentally friendly, socially responsible and unique.
Hector Sanchez was born, the second child of a master jeweler. He is the one to inherit a legacy of jewelry craftsmanship that spanned three generations. Like his father before him, Hector enjoys the art of jewelry making.
At the age of 16, Hector embarked on an apprenticeship under his father, who taught him the jeweler’s art along with family honored techniques Hector still employs to this day. The rigors of his father’s strict training forged both masterful design skills and an uncompromising work ethic rooted in hard work, perseverance and love for his craft.

Hector moved to California and worked for eight years in the Los Angeles jewelry district, where he fine-tuned his skills. It was here in the City of Angels that he met sailor and entrepreneur, Bob Bitchin.
Bob shared with Hector his frustration with finding an artist who could bring his vision of a hefty sailor gold bracelet to life (Bob is 6'4"). Hector volunteered to give it a try. He did, and Bob loved it. So much so that in 1990 he joined forces with Hector to start a nautical jewelry business, and together they created among others the original Turks-Head Comfort Rings. After a few years, Bob decided to cast off and sail into the sunset, while Hector continued designing unique fine nautical jewelry.
To this day Hector continues to work on new designs from his studio in Hawaii, creating some of the most beautiful enduring jewelry designs with his wife Chris; the love of his life.
